Employee Safety and Compliance
Our staff’s primary goal is to support on site EHS staff in their efforts to promote workplace safety by a variety of means and methods. We provide non-contact temperature checks at the start of each workday. We also perform daily walks around the construction site to ensure employee compliance with prescribed safety equipment and clothing. Our staff identifies and addresses any workplace violations or compliance issues and works with the employee(s) and EHS staff to rectify the issue(s).
If an employee is injured on the job, we will document the incident in our EHR, and triage appropriately according to our client's EHS policy (onsite care, telemedicine, urgent care, ER). Our primary goal is to provide appropriate medical treatment but also to minimize the time lost in the workplace. To support our main goal, we use telemedicine (medical care from a distance) when necessary to keep the employee on the job site. Next, we maintain contact with said employee(s) to ensure they are treated appropriately and not in excess, as well as making sure they are capable in the fullest capacity to safely return to work as quickly as possible; at all times ensuring compliance with local and corporate occupational safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
Our staff have the ability to service multiple work sites if they are within a reasonable commute distance. Mileage incurred during the workday will be charged at a federal rate of 57.5 cents per mile and will be billed to SKANSKA monthly.
OSHA 30 Trained
All of our employees working on site will be required to obtain training in both OSHA 30 and OSHA Injury and Illness Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements. A copy of our employee’s certificate of completion will be supplied to our partner prior to the employee arriving on site.
Drug and Alcohol Testing
We offer onsite drug and alcohol screening in compliance with local government standards. Urine drug tests, saliva blood tests and alcohol breath tests will be utilized post incident. Our staff will be certified in theses specimen collections prior to coming on site and a copy of staff certification will be provided to SKANSKA.
Paramedic First Response and Onsite Care
Freedom Safety Medics will maintain a medical supply room and will stock necessary supplies commensurate with requirements of the project. Supplies and capabilities including, but not limited to:
- First aid wound and splinting
- Blood pressure assessments
- Blood glucose measurement
- Urine drug screening
- COVID PCR swab tests
- COVID serum antibody tests
- Breathalyzer tests
- Influenza Shots
- Tetanus Shots
- Epi-pens for anaphylactic reactions
- Oral glucose
- Performing EHS training
- Provide job safety support
- Promoting safety, health and wellness topic
- Ensuring workplace compliance
- OSHA record keeping and reporting
- Over the counter medication administration (Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.)
- Incident documentation and reporting per OSHA standards
- Maintenance of confidential employee records in Freedom Safety Medics HIPAA protected EHR
